Machine Shop Grease and Dirt Removal

Anyone who has worked in a machine shop knows it can be a dirty, greasy place, even if it is cleaned on a nightly basis. The cutting fluid just hangs in the air and gets on everything, including the walls, ceilings, and rafters. It is something unavoidable, and I know this because I worked in one year’s ago.

Imagine my surprise when Ceiling Pro International was asked recently to clean the same machine shop, I worked at years ago. That company had long gone out of business and the building was sold to a new owner. Even with the building now totally empty, the question was, how do you clean up years of built-up grease and dirt? And not just from the floor, but also on the walls, ceilings, and rafters?

The good news is that our proprietary line of cleaning solutions allows us to tackle any kind of situation, i.e., restaurants, industrial facilities, hospitals and nursing homes, office buildings, and yes, even warehouse cleaning and machine shops. With the help of a couple of scissor lifts, we were able to load our machines on the lifts and send a crew up to the ceiling. This allowed us to clean the entire building from the rafters and metal beams down to the walls, and eventually the floors.

The entire project took a few weeks to complete – 72,730 sq ft - but the results spoke for themselves and the building owner was thrilled. The project was made easier since all the machines and equipment had been removed, but we have cleaned other industrial buildings where we had to negotiate around existing equipment. In those cases, we would first prep the area by covering the machines with poly to avoid any damage.
